When Shane came home from Iraq in August we decided to try and find a house. We both hate the house we lived in on post and thought that we should take advantage of the first time home buyers incentive. We found a brand new house that we fell in love with! It is smaller than the house on post, but I love this new house! It is all one level except for the bonus room upstairs. We closed on September 18th and are continuing to move stuff little by little. I haven't taken pictures just yet (I know, I know - bad me!) but will post them when I do. We picked out paint, and are hoping to paint sometime in the near future! Just wanted to share the exciting news :)

♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-32445794547225928352009-05-03T12:34:00.004-04:002009-05-03T12:37:58.206-04:00We switched!

Yep, we switched to cloth! Today was the last day of classes! I am so glad this semester is over! I just have a couple finals to do and a paper or two and then I'm done for the spring! I am sleeping in tomorrow FOR SURE!♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-31338825117662468252009-04-19T21:09:00.002-04:002009-04-19T21:14:52.676-04:00Zoo TripIt was pretty lame. First off, I couldn't find the camera ANYWHERE! I have no idea where we misplaced it! Then it decided to drizzle/light rain so we thought it would be best to leave before it started to pour and we were stuck in the heart of the zoo and running back to the car. We did see the polar bears (Shane's favorite), sea lions, alligators and turtles. Landon really enjoyed watching the sea lions swim. He didn't really get the idea of them up above, so we went below and he could see them swim by the glass. He loved it! Squealing and moving his head to follow them as they swam by. I just stood there amazed at how excited he was! I think we may try to go next weekend though, we felt cheated we couldn't see more. I really wanted to see the pink flamingos (my favorite) and the Africa part of the zoo. We got Landon a cute t-shirt that says "Be Cool..Stay Cool at the NC Zoo" and it has a polar bear on it. Couldn't find the magnet that matches ours - we think that was in the Africa part of the zoo. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted and Landon enjoyed himself :D♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-73109225824864806582009-04-18T19:34:00.002-04:002009-04-18T19:40:29.636-04:00Winding down...Ahh, the time is winding down until Shane leaves. We are trying to spend time as a family as often as we can :) Tomorrow we are going to the zoo! We are so excited! I just hope it isn't blazing hot, but still pretty out. Shane and I went to the zoo for one of our first couple dates and we both got a magnet with our name on it. Hopefully, tomorrow we can find the same one but with Landon's name on it!

Tonight we went to Barnes & Noble so Landon could play with the train table. We didn't stay long because there were some bratty kids who didn't want to share the trains and poor Landon had to play with a lame helicopter. For dinner we went to On the Border and sat on the patio because the weather was so nice! We had an interesting time because we had some loud people that were next to us. Needless to say, it was awkward! Shane and I came to the conclusion that there was: 2 soldiers who met the girl last night (who we believe was a stripper) and the girl's mother. We thought the mom and daughter were a team to try and get one of these poor guys to try and date her. Classic Fayetteville I tell ya. Classic. THEN when we were driving home, we drove past a hotel and there was a Grandpa letting his maybe two year old pee in the grass...WHERE CARS DRIVE BY! No joke, the little kid's pants were at his ankles. I was shocked to see it! So, tonight I witnessed the classic trashy Fayetteville that I've always heard about.

I'll share pictures from the zoo tomorrow :D♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-54910393568151473942009-04-07T23:43:00.003-04:002009-04-07T23:53:55.092-04:00Teacher? I'm not so sure now...Today I had to "teach" my weather centers at College Lakes Elementary. Cute little second graders, I was just out of my element! I haven't been in a classroom in about a year, so it was definitely a shock again! I had four centers, twenty one students and a super HOT room. Centers were: 1. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs: Had to plan out healthy meals for the week, 2. I see: Used paint to make a cloud by dropping paint in the crease of a folded paper and describe what image they see in their cloud, 3. Weather Games: Word search and Un-scramble weather words, and 4. Predict the Weather: use the daily newspaper to use as a guide to predict what the weather should be for the next three days and use vivid describing words. It didn't go horribly, but paint was such a mess. I did these activities in my college class to give it a run through, but no one was smearing paint and took the directions well and didn't put massive blobs of paint near the edges so paint smooshed out. AHHH. I could have screamed! Thank God the paint was acrylic and washed off the teacher's table! I learned after the first group if kids, PUT NEWSPAPER DOWN! I am still doubting myself to be a good teacher, but I'm not trying to let this experience discourage me. I was a guest in the classroom and never saw the children before..so that is partially why things went a little hectic. Just glad the day is OVER! :)

Tonight Shane and I went to Red Lobster. I haven't been there in years! It was their Lobster Fest going on, so we had a wonderful and peaceful dinner! Also, it was the first time Shane ever had lobster. I felt really special to be there to celebrate it, and he laughed at me! LOL. I just remember the first time I had it: it was in PA with my parents, grandma and grandpa & aunt. It was also my grandpa's first time trying lobster as well. So I hold it close to my heart. What can I say..I'm a sentimental person!

Landon is doing great at my parents. They are loving this time with him. We still miss him tons, but I can't complain that I enjoy sleeping in till 8 each morning instead of getting up at 6!♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-24769678863950314002009-04-06T13:33:00.003-04:002009-04-06T13:44:09.343-04:00Updates
Spring is here! Poor Landon's allergies are getting to him - his nose was running and was always sneezing! I am getting sinus headaches as well. Blah! About a week ago, we found out Shane has to go to Iraq for three months. Sigh. At least its only three months, but still! We are busy finding all sorts of Army things thrown in the storage shed and tucked around the house. He will be home for about two months and then go to the Philippines for six months. I know he is disappointed he won't be able to go to the beach with us and see Landon really enjoy (or hate!) the beach again. Last time we took him he was about 6 months:

He wasn't a very happy camper in that picture! Maybe this year will be different! I hope so!

Also, my mom is keeping Landon for a week! A WEEK! I don't know what to do! I am going to clean the house from top to bottom, but what else? I told Shane to turn the TV down last night because Landon was sleeping - but I thought, no he isn't :( We will see him soon. At least we can have time together before he leaves, that will be nice! I don't have to cut up Landon's food first while he is screaming in a restaurant because he is hungry while my food turns cold! I love this month! My birthday is on the seventeenth and I am pretty excited. Its hard for me to grasp that I will be 23! We are doing our taxes today, and we seem to be getting a pretty big chunk back. Very exciting! I think I may treat myself to a new purse or something - I deserve it :D Also, today my nephew made the JV basketball team at his middle school! I am so proud of him! I hope to go see some of his games if I can! I know Landon would enjoy to watch the boys moving and playing.♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-81681129181397632062009-01-20T14:43:00.002-05:002009-01-20T14:47:44.866-05:00Snow Day!
Well, Landon's birthday was the other day - MY BABY BOY IS ONE! We had a wonderful time in Raleigh visiting (I'll have to post those pictures whenever I get them from my mom's camera). The theme was Elmo, and the cake was delicious!

Today I had a snow day! I am so excited! We bundled Landon up, but were only outside for about 5 minutes because it was so cold! Here is a picture to show how his time outside went :)

Hopefully we have a snow day as well, tomorrow!

♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-58244619019947116922008-12-19T16:48:00.002-05:002008-12-19T16:51:39.964-05:00Red Velvet CookiesI am going to attempt and bake these! Maybe tonight :) I am excited!

Ingredients

Cookies

1 (18 ounce) box red velvet cake mix (any brand will do)

2 eggs

1/3 cup oil

Cream Cheese Frosting

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (softened)

1/4 cup stick margarine or butter (softened)

2 teaspoons milk

1 teaspoons vanilla

4 cups powdered sugar

Directions

Mix all the cookie ingredients together. This will make a cookie dough.

Roll into balls and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Flatten down slightly (depending on the thickness you desire).

Bake at 375° until the tops crackle (about 8-10 minutes) or until desired doneness.

Cool and then frost (they're also good without the frosting).

For the frosting, beat cream cheese, margarine, milk and vanilla in medium bowl with electric mixer on low speed until smooth.

Gradually beat in powdered sugar on low speed, 1 cup at a time, until smooth and spreadable. Frosts one 13 × 9-inch cake generously, or fills and frosts one 8- or 9-inch two-layer cake. Refrigerate any remaining frosting.

I am going to do things a little differently - I hope. Instead of ball cookies, I will put the mix in a ziplock bag and try to pipe them into either a spiral or maybe a lady-finger like line. I haven't decided. I am still trying to decide to use the icing they suggested or use a glaze. I love my mom's kitchen, so I have the itch to bake something :D♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-76591151086531654212008-12-19T13:15:00.002-05:002008-12-19T13:23:17.529-05:00Visit with SantaThe other day my mom and I took Landon to visit Santa. We went to a classy mall about forty minutes away. The set up they had was great! It was all about the Polar Express. I love that movie! While we were waiting, they had a room set up like front of the train with the break and wheels and of course the horn. Landon was tired, but he was playing with the make believe fire and got his hands all dirty. We walk through that part and into the next part that was similar to a living snow globe. Fake snow was falling, it was really cool. Finally we made it to Santa. The woman asked if Landon had ever seen Santa before, and I said no. She suggested that I put him in his lap and move away as fast as possible so they can snap a picture. I placed Landon in his lap, and he is just staring at him. Santa didn't say a word! I was surprised! I guess he didn't want to scare him anymore. I jolt away and Landon screamed. He was so upset. I think he thought I was leaving him with Santa. My mom tried to say he was a doggy and maybe Landon would have liked him...but no luck. Here is the picture from our trip :) Maybe next year we will have smiles and not tears.

♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-20991875620238809902008-12-10T11:21:00.002-05:002008-12-10T11:29:18.260-05:00Headache...Poor Landon is cutting teeth. I can feel his upper one just beginning to come out, but I think another may pop in the next few days. I have such a headache from him being so fussy. I know he has to be hurting :(

I am also getting a headache thinking about transitioning from bottle to sippy cup with milk. I don't think this will be an easy transition at all. Many times whenever he is super sleepy he cries and cries until he gets a bottle and zonks out. I don't know how he will react whenever we just have sippys with milk. It wouldn't be such a big deal if we were at home all the time, but he has to move to the toddlers room at the Church Daycare once he turns one and there are no bottles allowed. I think we have a rough transition ahead of us!

Landon and I are headed to Raleigh this weekend to meet up with my parents and then head to Virginia on Sunday. I hope Shane put in his leave so he will be able to go to Virginia with us as well. My parents begged Landon and I to come up early because I know they have missed him so much. I am contemplating whether or not to decorate the Christmas tree since we will only be here for a few more days and whenever we come back I will just have to take things down again. Maybe Shane can put the lights on and then I'll be in the mood to decorate. We have so many ornaments and such a tiny tree!

I really, REALLY want out of this house. I am so sick of it. I am thankful we have a place to stay and it is close to Shane's work. I just want a house to call our own and room for Landon to run around! Hopefully Uncle Mark gets funded soon so we can buy our lot and finally build our house...maybe sometime in the New Year!

Well, I am off to clean some more - and put up some Christmas decorations :D♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-81181184099238318122008-12-08T00:02:00.004-05:002008-12-08T00:17:22.847-05:00Totally forgot...I totally forgot about this blog and hoping to keep it updated regularly. I guess I can blame part of my empty mindedness on Thanksgiving spent in Raleigh, and the end of the fall semester wrapping up. The family is good, but we all are sick :( Landon was sick on Thursday and Friday, and then I caught it Saturday and poor Shane caught it today (Sunday). As you can see it is technically Monday, but I have insomnia and cannot sleep. I'll post some new pictures of the little man very soon!♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-82463426014492161882008-11-24T10:09:00.003-05:002008-11-24T10:11:27.315-05:00First Haircut! On Friday, Landon got his first haircut! He looks like such a big boy! Everything went well, he was just super nosey and wanted to see everything going on. The barber gave him a lolipop to eat, and then he dropped it. Needless to say, his cheeks and mouth were sticky and all the hair that fell made him look like he had a beard :) I saved some of his curls for his baby book, too. His hair isn't as soft anymore, but that is okay...he's a big boy now!♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-64283840237939910332008-11-18T09:33:00.001-05:002008-11-18T09:36:44.896-05:0010 monthsWell, Landon turned 10 months on the 16th! Time is FLYING by! I cannot believe it! He hasn't quite started to walk or show any interest in walking. He cruises from different furniture pieces though like a champ. He will walk whenever he is ready - I'm not too concerned. I cannot believe that November is almost over. Thanksgiving is next week! I am excited to see the family. My flight was screwed up to go up for Nanny's funeral, so I couldn't go. I am still upset about it, but at least I know she is in peace. It will be fun to laugh about the funny things Nanny used to say and do - it will help us all have closing.♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-81108498278960331112008-11-07T09:33:00.002-05:002008-11-07T09:35:54.617-05:00Sad Friday...Today is a very sad day. Nanny passed away. I know that it has hit our family very hard, but we know she is at peace and can be with PapPap finally. I am still in shock, but I know I will have a good cry about it later tonight. This Thanksgiving I hope we can share stories about Nanny to put smiles on our faces. She was such a funny and beautiful person. We will miss her very much. I know she won't be in pain anymore and will finally be truely happy again.♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-53352246412616590542008-11-04T10:54:00.000-05:002008-11-04T11:04:00.793-05:00Two Years!
THE BANKARDS - EST. I cannot believe it is November already! I love Fall. The holidays are right around the corner and I love the weather. If time keeps moving like this, Christmas will be here tomorrow! I cannot wait! Is it bad that I have been listening to Christmas music in the car? :) I am thankful I do not have to work during the holidays this year. We will get to spend more time with our family, horray! Shane and I decided to go all out for Christmas this year since he will not be here for it next year. We want to make sure that it is very special for all three of us. I am thankful though he gets to celebrate Landon's FIRST birthday! Speaking of which, I have no idea what theme it will be. I need to start brainstorming ideas for it. I have a lot of work to do in the next couple months!

Tomorrow is our TWO year wedding anniversary! Horray! I am very excited!♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-78943862233488354812008-11-01T00:50:00.000-04:002008-11-01T00:57:08.601-04:00Happy Halloween!
Hope you had a spook-tacular Halloween! We had a great time walking Landon around trick-or-treating. We went with our friends Chad and Naomi, and their kiddos. It was chilly, but his costume was very thick and kept him nice and warm. My mom saw this costume at Babies R' Us and it was only $6.50! What a deal! Landon received a lot of compliments on how cute his costume was. We got home around eight or so, and he was wiped out. He was so exhausted - he didn't want to miss a thing so he didn't even fall asleep!

Here are a few pictures. Enjoy!

♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5655792978603117579.post-53581018184194267052008-10-29T23:17:00.000-04:002008-10-29T23:27:57.166-04:00First Post

Well, thanks to good ol' insomnia I decided to create a family blog. Seeing that I don't call many family members and we communicate online mostly - this will help keep everyone in the know :)

I cannot believe that October is almost over and done with. This year has flown by! In 2.5 months, Landon will be ONE! Can you believe it? I surely cannot! The most recent thing that he has accomplished was drinking from a straw! I learned not to share a drink since he back washes, yuck! I think he gets frustrated with sippy cups and the straw allows him to have bigger gulps. We recently had professional pictures taken, so I will post a few of those so you can see.

We have so many pictures, I am sure we will send some out with Christmas cards this year. 56 days till Christmas, by the way!

Shane's and mine (is that correct grammar?) two year anniversary is coming up in a few days! It is hard to believe that we have been married for two years! :)

Hopefully I will keep up with this blogging thing and it will become a daily habit. We will see though!

My favorite picture :) Landon - 9 months

♥ KBBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03218309527841863733noreply@blogger.com1
